Ways to Make Money from a website

Many sites on the internet actually make money by simply asking for it. These sites provide mostly (if not completely) free and useful content and ask their visitors to donate a small amount of money in return for the content provided. This method seems to work best on sites like self help sites (where visitors tend to be more grateful for the content) and also on forums with communities of online friends where the site would struggle to exist without the donations.

For a while I have been a bit unsure whether to test this method as part of my site. On the one hand it feels like there is something wrong with just asking for money but on the other hand this is supposed to be a test of all methods of making income online. I have now decided to test it but I will only be accepting donations of £1.50 (or equivalent amount).
