Making Money with CPM Advertising

Cost Per Mille (thousand) Schemes are another form of advertising scheme where you get paid for how many times an advert is displayed on your website. The ‘M’ is Latin for thousand, meaning you will usually be paid for every 1000 visitors to your site. As you are simply displaying an advert (rather than actually taking the visitor to the advertisers site), payment rates aren't likely to be high per impression but sites with good traffic can make decent money from CPM schemes.

Advantages

You don't need your visitors to click on any links to make money as payment is per impression (when the advert is displayed). CPM is great for sites with high traffic.

Not so great for...

sites with low traffic. Most large CPM networks require you to have a certain amount of unique visitors per month before they let you join. Therefore this method is limited to sites with higher traffic and not suitable for a website starting up. I will need to work on increasing traffic before I can even think about testing this method of income on my site unless I can find a scheme which requires less unique visitors per month to join.

How do I get started with CPM Schemes?

You will want to do some research when looking for an appropriate CPM network for your site. Certain networks will be more appropriate for the topic of your site and may also offer better payment rates. Listed below are some CPM networks which you can choose from when your site is big enough to get paid per thousand impressions. The first four in this list seem to be the largest schemes that I have found.
